Muir Group CEO celebrates six-month anniversary
THE new chief executive of Muir Group Housing Association is celebrating her first six-months leading the organisation.
Catherine Dixson took over the position when the previous CEO retired in September 2013. Catherine previously held senior roles at GreenSquare Housing Group and in Synergy Housing Group.
“My time so far at Muir Group has been immensely enjoyable but challenging at the same time. I have concentrated on getting to know the business and have spent time ‘on the shop floor’ working with staff, visiting our schemes across the country and meeting many of our residents. I have wanted to see how and where we can continue to improve our services to our residents whilst putting in place a strategic plan to help the organisation address the issues affecting our customers and our business such as government funding cuts, benefits reform and fuel and food poverty,” said Catherine.
“We have also achieved a lot in the last six months, we joined the PlaceShapers alliance, which is about joining forces with other housing associations to address some of the issues mentioned above, we have held a consultation process with our residents, staff and Board to define our business plan for the next three years and at a more local level, I was delighted that our new HQ in Chester was awarded the Chester Civic Trust Chairman’s special award for the best refurbished building in Chester in 2013.”
Muir Group was established in 1968 and now manages 5,000 properties throughout the UK, including Chester and Cheshire. Its range of properties includes affordable homes, sheltered housing and specialist accommodation for residents with specific needs.
