Random acts of kindness craze
A new craze has begun which encourages people to carry out random acts of kindness. Danny Wallace’s book ‘Join Me’ describes how he started a collective (not a cult!) by originally getting 1,000 people to join him by sending him their passport photo. Initially there was no real purpose for joining Danny (also co-author of ‘Are You Dave Gorman?’) until he decided that he’d use his collective to carry out random acts of kindness every Friday, and thus re-named the day Good Fridays. So if you find yourself receiving anonymous bunches of flowers, or someone buys you a ‘no strings attached’ drink in the pub then they may well be one of Danny’s Joinees. Four years on from the birth of the Karma Army, thousands of Joinees around the world are doing good every Friday so you’ve got every chance of bumping into one of them. Also, if you’re not already a Joinee and want an excuse to be extra nice to people by displaying random acts of kindness, you can find out more and even join Danny by logging onto www.join-me.co.uk.
