Training scheme launched for Tees Valley VSO managers
A new state-of-the-art management development programme has been launched in Tees Valley to help managers of voluntary and community organisations develop their leadership skills. The Building Capacity in Voluntary Organisations (BCVO) management development programme has been designed specifically to enable managers in the voluntary and community sector to develop and update their management skills.Delivered by Project North East (PNE) and supported by the Northern Rock Foundation and the European Social Fund, the programme features workshops on: Good Governance; Positive Working, Maximising Personal Effectiveness; Financial Management; Fundraising; Directing the Future; and, Compliance and Culture. Participants are also provided with a CD Rom to take away to enable them to share the information within their organisation. A DVD also provides participants with solutions to real life scenarios relevant to the sector. In addition to the workshops, there is the opportunity to work with an assessor towards the NVQ in Management at levels 3, 4 or 5. The new BCVO course for Tees Valley voluntary sector managers is free. It begins with an awareness and information session this Thursday, 18 May from 10am - 12 pm at Morton Park Business Training Centre in Darlington. The programme starts with 14 day-long workshop sessions in Darlington, running from June to December 2006.
