North East England musicians unite for spectacular one-night showcase

Seven of the region’s best unsigned bands will be showcased in a one-off spectacular tonight. North East England – Live! will provide a taster of the exceptional talent and musical diversity in the region.

Featuring artists from every corner of the region, tonight’s line up includes: Hungover Stuntmen and People of Santiago (from Newcastle), Minotaurs (from South Shields), The Riposte (from Durham City), Lucas Renney (from Sunderland), Jeans goes Pop! (from Morpeth in Northumberland) and The New Vinyls (from Chester-le-Street and Newcastle).

The event, which will take place in The Cluny bar in the Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle has also attracted the attention of music journalists and record labels. Representatives from the key musical organisations in the region will also be present, such as The Sage Gateshead, Generator, From Teesside with Love, NARC, Canopy New Music and Jumpin’ Hot Club, who will all offer guests insight into the breadth and diversity of the music scene.

Mark Adamson, Creative Industries Advisor at One NorthEast, said: “North East England’s live music scene has reached an all time peak. Over the next two months alone, over five hundred concerts will take place across the region. Nationally, people are familiar with home-grown bands such as Maximo Park, The Futureheads, The Motorettes, Field Music and Kubichek, but are less aware of the exceptionally creative regional culture which forms the back-drop, and continues to nurture and launch new talent onto the world music scene.”

The event will take place at the Cluny tonight at 7.30pm. Tickets available for only £4 on the door.
