Regional roll-out for home seller's pack
A trial of new Home Information Packs (HIPs) will begin in Newcastle today. From 1st June 2007, it will be compulsory for sellers to make a Home Information Pack available to a potential buyer that contains information they need about the property. It will include information such as terms of sale, title deeds, local searches, warranties, and an Energy Performance Certificate.
Ahead of the UK-wide roll-out, six areas – Southampton, Newcastle, Northampton, Bath, Huddersfield and Cambridge – have been selected to take part in a regional trial where the HIPs will be made available free of charge to sellers.
Paul Broadhead, Deputy Director General, Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) which is leading the trials, said: “The packs will help to speed up the entire house buying and selling process, making the transaction more transparent and offering huge benefits for all involved. At the recent events we had over 100 additional businesses commit to taking part in the roll out on the night, with many more expected to join over the coming weeks.”
