Dome firm develops Middlesbrough

The firm in charge of the Millennium Dome redevelopment has signed an agreement to lead Middlesbrough’s £500m Middlehaven project. Tees Valley Regeneration’s new vision for Middlehaven is set to become a reality after terms were agreed with developers BioRegional Quintain.

Mr Docherty said: “No more plans, no more talk – because one of the UK’s biggest and best has signed on the dotted line to say it will build a spectacular, head-turning development at Middlehaven and it will bring £200m of investment to Middlesbrough. “Imagine the different perception of Middlesbrough visitors will take away. The panoramic views filmed and beamed across the world from the Riverside Stadium will speak volumes about an area in ascent and a town brave enough to take huge steps into the future.”

Pete Halsall, BioRegional Quintain’s Managing Director, said: ’BioRegional Quintain is delighted to have signed the development agreement for Middlehaven. “We anticipate that this project will provide a quality living and working environment to Middlesbrough, as well as new jobs and investment very much suited to the emerging economic confidence of the region. Our aim is for this new place to become a focal point for the town and for the Tees Valley region.”

Tees Valley Regeneration has been working with national regeneration agency English Partnerships which owns the land. Work has already started on the new £68m Middlesbrough College which will form part of phase one of Middlehaven. Further developments are expected to start next year, once planning approval is granted.
