Workers ?too busy? for holidays
With only six week before the end of the year, nine out of ten UK workers are too busy to take their holiday entitlement, new research has revealed. The poll of 2,000 people suggests one in four still has more than ten days of holiday left to take, with a third saying they probably would not be able to use their full allowance.
Employees questioned for the survey said they were working too hard to take all the time they were owed this year, and some said they would most likely not use their full holiday entitlement due to work pressures. However, more than a fifth of workers are frantically booking breaks before the year is over in an effort to use as much leave as possible. As a result, many people told the researchers that they will probably end up visiting destinations they wouldn’t usually choose, and a others say they fear they’ll blow the budget on breaks they hadn’t planned for, potentially adding more stress in the lead-up to Christmas.
The research was undertaken by insurance firm More Than. Spokeswoman Keira Clark estimated that only one in ten workers actively plan ahead when it comes to taking breaks over the Christmas period.
