Medieval banquet at Blackfriars

The bdaily has teamed up with Blackfriars Restaurant to offer readers the chance to win two tickets to its next medieval banquet to be held in Blackfriars Guest Hall at 7:30pm on Friday 19 January.

Banquet guests will be treated like kings and queens from the 13th century, with a reception of Lindisfarne Mead, before being invited to sit at a large convivial table to indulge in a gastronomic celebration. The feast consists of 3 courses including roast suckling ‘pigge’, sausages, drumsticks and Michaelmas pye, to be washed down with Benedictine ale and wine served by Blackfriars monks and buxom wenches.

Using bespoke wooden furniture and hand-crafted pottery from the Northumbrian Craft Pottery, the guest hall will be lit with hundreds of candles to create a medieval atmosphere for the banquet. The specially commissioned 30ft oak table will be decorated with apples, oranges and bowls of nuts and the only items of cutlery allowed are the daggers.

The medieval banquets are held four times a year and can also be hired for corporate entertainment and for wedding and other celebrations. For further information contact Blackfriars restaurant on 0191 2615945 or visit www.blackfriarsrestaurant.co.uk.

If you would like to be in with a chance to win two tickets to Friday’s banquet, just answer the following question:

How many times a year does Blackfriars hold medieval banquets?

Send your answer to competitions@bdaily.info. All answers must be received by 5pm today (15 January).
