Spot the plaque in County Durham
The search is on this week as Business Link County Durham challenges people to ‘spot the plaque’ as part of an enterprise campaign happening throughout the area. The local business support agency has deposited large plaques in selected businesses across the entire County, displaying the slogan ‘Made in County Durham’ to encourage pride in homegrown businesses and inspire budding business owners to get their minds into gear.
The plaque hunt is the first of many events organised throughout the county over the coming months as part of the ‘What’s Yours?’ campaign, designed to encourage people who may be harbouring a business idea to contact Business Link for help in making the dream a reality. The idea is that passers by who spot the plaques can get behind the scheme and claim a sticker of their own - showing their support by displaying the ‘Made in County Durham’ message as they go about their daily activities.
Edd Smith, enterprise project manager at Business Link County Durham said: “The plaque hunt is a fun event designed to make people stop and think about their business potential. If passers-by are inspired by their business being ‘Made in County Durham’, they can continue to spread the word by displaying their sticker but even more importantly, contact us, as the main prize for budding entrepreneurs is our help in getting their business ideas off the ground.”
