Volunteer for LSC focus groups

Local brand technology company TH_NK are undertaking a period of research on behalf of the Learning and Skills Council to better understand the requirements of North East employers as they source training provision in the region. Having completed an online survey they are now inviting employers in the region to take part in two focus group sessions at the start of February. The purpose of these sessions will be to discuss the subject in more depth and to get some direct insight as to how employers proceed with sourcing training provision, what information they require and what resources they access to get that information.

The feedback from these group sessions will be used to enhance the development of the Employer Guide to Training website. The guide itself will be an invaluable resource for employers in the region – helping them to gather information, select training and investigate the funding opportunities available to employers through the new Train to Gain brokerage service. In exchange for participating in either of the sessions TH_NK are offering a choice of two free services: a website accessibility report or a search engine performance report. These services both offer companies a valuable insight into a company’s online performance.

Michael Mitchell, LSC in the North East’s Skills Director, said: “The Employer Guide to Training website is an essential tool that will enable businesses from across the region to access up to date information about training. Employers will have available to them, at the click of a mouse, details about the availability and quality of training in their area, enabling them to make informed choices about what training best meet their skills needs and the needs of their workers. I believe this website will become invaluable to employers in the North East.”

The sessions take place on Thursday 1 February at 4pm – 5.30pm and Friday 2 February at 9am – 10.30am. If you want to take part either session, contact Keith Foggan at TH_NK on 0191 241 7016 or keith@think.eu.
