Voluntary organisations get to Lead the Fiel

In 2006, 265 delegates from 138 North East voluntary organisations became graduates of ‘Lead the Field’, a training course commissioned by Northern Rock Foundation. Now MBA, the agency that designed and delivered Lead the Field last year, has been commissioned by the Foundation to run it again. ‘Lead the Field 2007’ will cover areas such as fundraising, leadership, project management, presentation skills, governance, business planning and time management.

Mark Butcher, Director of MBA, said: “In designing Lead the Field 2007 specifically for North East voluntary organisations, we have drawn on our experience of working with the organisations across the UK, Europe and the world. We will use the very best trainers from our region, and bring specialists in from as far afield as London and New York City to ensure that we share the very best practice and cutting edge techniques. “We think that this exceptional training opportunity will help organisations become financially secure, solve management problems, deliver better services and build a highly skilled and motivated staff and trustee team.”

Anne Burleigh, Director of VCS Training and Development at Northern Rock Foundation, said: “We invest in training and development where we can have most effect, filling gaps in provision and prioritising under-resourced topics and locations. ‘Lead the Field 2007’ will provide exactly the kind of high-quality governance and management training North East organisations need to thrive in an increasingly complex and demanding environment for their work.”
