New look for college
With construction of its £37m landmark campus well underway, Gateshead College is also doing some image building with a new corporate identity. The college is launching the new branding as it moves closer to the opening of its Baltic Campus on Gateshead Quayside.
David Cheetham, principal of the college, said: “This is an exciting time for Gateshead College. We are investing £47m in our new four-site campus and are making innovative developments in teaching and learning. We want our image to reflect our investment and ambitions for the future, which is why we took the opportunity to develop a new corporate identity for the college.”
The decision to re-brand was taken following extensive research with students, staff, the local community, local businesses and stakeholders. The research suggested that the current identity, which has been in place for the last ten years, did not effectively communicate the college’s values or ambition.
The new corporate identity will be used selectively throughout 2007 to coincide with the opening of the college’s new buildings. The new brand and corporate identity will be fully in place by January 2008 and the college hopes it will have a huge impact on future students and employers when they decide to engage with the college.
