North East restaurant awarded Michelin star
The White Room restaurant at the award winning Seaham Hall hotel has been led to Michelin star status by Head Chef Stephen Smith. The White Room is the only restaurant in the North East to be awarded the recognition in over a decade. The accolade is given to establishments serving cuisine of the highest standard and is judged on the skills of the chefs, ingredients used, creativity, flavours, value for money and the consistency of culinary standards.
Stephen said: “I am over the moon. The Michelin star is such a highly recognised achievement not only by standards but by chefs themselves. I am really proud that our team are being rewarded with this and to be associated with the hotel is fantastic. “Many of our chefs have been with us for a number of years so for them this is really wonderful.”
Debrah Dhugga, Chief Executive of Seaham Hall, said: “This is a fantastic accolade not only for our restaurant but more for the recognition of our talented head Chef Stephen Smith. It is an amazing achievement for the North of England and what’s more, it’s fantastic that people in the region can dine in a Michelin restaurant without having to leave the area.”
