Valentine's encouragement for mums
As Business Link Tyne and Wear launches a one day event to encourage enterprising mums in the county to start a business, representatives were out and about on the streets of Newcastle on Wednesday handing out Valentines heart-shaped cookies to mums to encourage them to come along. Mums were offered shortbread cookies with a big red heart and accompanying flyers to warm their hearts to the idea of setting up their own business and realising they have the opportunity and support to go it alone in business on their doorstep.
The cookies promote Business Link Tyne and Wear’s Enterprising Mums event on March 1st 2007 in Newcastle, where mums are encouraged to bring their kids and get involved by taking part in workshops and talking to inspirational role-models and about how they juggle motherhood with being their own boss.
Salome McVeigh, enterprise project manager at Business Link Tyne and Wear, said: “For many mums starting a business is a great option because it allows them to be creative, work flexibly and potentially revive old interests. Being a mum I understand how important it is to start thinking about the future for your whole family and how making even small changes can positively impact the family. I would encourage any mum who’d like to explore their opportunities to come along to the Enterprising Mums event and be inspired.”
