?We want to be green?
Workers are increasingly demanding to be based at home or have flexible shifts as part of a ‘green’ revolution, a report reveals. A survey of 1,000 workers found that one in five believe the environment will become the top priority for businesses. Despite this, a third of those questioned by communications firm Affiniti said their firm had no type of environmental policy in place. Most workers said they turned off computers and electrical items in the evening, recycled paper and tried to avoid printing.
Gary Young, managing director of Affiniti, said: “Collaborative working will undoubtedly drive the workplace of the future. “People can be engaged both socially and professionally from home whilst helping to protect the environment. “Organisations and employees alike must understand how communications technology such as wireless working, video conferencing and mobile technology will help drive this revolution.”
He said organisations were starting to take on board workers’ demands for home working and environmental protection.
