A new organisation that aims to accelerate the development of the North East economy has appointed its head officer. Caroline Hughes of Tynemouth joins the newly established NStar Finance & Business programme, which has been set up to help companies achieve their growth potential.

Caroline brings a combination of public and private sector skills to NStar’s task of creating a financial support programme aimed at SMEs. She was a member of the national Small Business Council for three years, advising government on issues affecting small companies. Caroline was also a board member of Connexions for several years and is due to step down from the board of Business Link Tees Valley after serving for six years.

Caroline said: “Finance & Business is a practical and robust response to the financial issues facing many SMEs. We have an exciting programme of activities that are relevant for any company, in any sector, wanting to grow and become more profitable.”
