Attention all budding artists
Talented artists are being urged to seize the opportunity to display their work in a professional city centre gallery in The Art Work’s Galleries third Focused Eye exhibition. The Focused Eye competition is the brainchild of resident artist and gallery owner Matt Forster and invites entrants to submit a piece of themed artwork to be showcased in the gallery in Ouseburn, Newcastle for three months. Following the success of previous competitions, the latest exhibition theme to challenge artists is ‘Focus on the Figure’, an exploration of the human figure in all its variations.
Nicolette Perry, Co-Director at the gallery, said: “The competition is a fantastic chance for new talent to surface and it’s exciting to see fresh ideas and concepts and is designed to inspire and arouse deep thinking. And who knows, the gallery could possibly be showcasing the work of the next Michelangelo or Da Vinci.”
Currently displayed is the Winter Wonderland Focused Eye exhibition which is the artists’ interpretation of winter and is reportedly very popular with the public. Included is photography, textiles, watercolour and oil paintings and also the installation artwork of a cosy living area on a cold winter’s night. Winter Wonderland will feature in the gallery until the end of March for visitors to vote on their favourite item and have the chance to purchase one of these limited edition pieces.
Entries to Focus on the Figure should be submitted by the 8th March and will be exhibited from April 2007. Applications are available from the gallery. For more information contact info@theartworksgalleries.com or call 0191 261 9922.
