Castaway call for Enterprise Island

An event to promote the spirit of enterprise has aspiring future captains of industry packing their suitcases across North East England. Budding entrepreneurs across the region who have dreamed of setting up their own business can book a free flight to Iain Scott’s Enterprise Island Mini Challenge.

The enterprise guru has created an Enterprise Island Challenge for the 16 to 30 age group. Iain is bringing the Enterprise Island Mini Challenge to the North East, where he and a panel of experts will spend the day meeting aspiring young entrepreneurs on an individual and informal basis, with the aim of helping them turn their business ideas into reality.

Iain said: “Forget business plans – that’s not what the Enterprise Island Mini Challenge is about. We want to see people aged 30 and under who are excited about the possibility of maybe setting up their own business and want to know if their idea has potential. “Our focus is not on people who have business plans and exit strategies in place. Instead, we target the many thousands who have dreamed of setting up a business but haven’t done anything about it yet – often because they haven’t got the confidence and don’t believe that anyone will take them, or their ideas, seriously.”

The North East Enterprise Island Mini Challenge is being supported by One North East Regional Development Agency as part of their Future Entrepreneurs Programme.

North East England has a rich history of producing successful entrepreneurs and events like Enterprise Island serve to help us instil that spirit of enterprise in young people. “One NorthEast is committed to raising entrepreneurial culture in the region, investing resources to make the region more competitive globally and close the productivity gap between the North and the South of the UK.”
