Green emphasis for 'business Oscars'
AXA yesterday announced that firms’ attitudes towards climate change are now a crucial part of entries to the North East AXA Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award category of this year’s prestigious National Business Awards – dubbed by Gordon Brown as the ‘Business Oscars’. The new judging criterion has been put in place by AXA to reflect the growing concern towards the impact businesses are having on the environment. Firms will also be judged on their ethics, success, and innovation. The AXA Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award is open to organisations with less than £10 million turnover in their last financial year and is being run at both a regional and a UK level.
Douglas Barnett, the AXA North East Regional Judge, said: “The AXA Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award is now in its third year and will name, in the first instance, the North East’s most innovative and dynamic business. We then hope our regional winner will go onto the National Finals and bring the overall Award back to the North East. “We are very pleased to be sponsoring this Award to support businesses, and we strongly encourage small and medium sized businesses to review their strengths and successes and enter the award.”
To enter the AXA Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award, businesses can register at www.axa4business.co.uk, where they can also find tips on how to produce a winning entry. All regional entries must be submitted by 22 March.
