Maybe we could try this in schools?

As punishments go, it’s pretty harsh. A court stenographer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was sent to jail when she didn’t finish a trial transcript needed for an important appeal hearing. Ann Margaret Smith was jailed last Friday for contempt of court, reports MSNBC. Circuit Judge Charles Greene noted that Smith failed for months to finish the transcript and missed a final deadline in February. She also failed to produce the transcript at her contempt hearing.

Smith was released from jail on Sunday night and placed under house arrest until she finishes the final 400 pages of the 1,500-page transcript.
