River Escapes in countryside escape
A local boat cruise company has gone back to its roots in its search for new premises. River Escapes have moved their business to Whitehouse Farm in Stannington, where company boss David Fozard grew up.
The trip down memory lane has provided River Escapes with 650 sq ft of additional office space as the company expands the business into bespoke corporate cruises and chartered parties. River Escapes aims this year to increase its group travel tourism bookings as it expands its sightseeing services to include trips to float past the QE2 in the Autumn.
David Fozard said: “I was actually brought up here on the farm in the early 1960s when it was owned by my family and farmed by my father. “Returning here to use their office units for my own business has brought back many happy childhood memories, remembering the areas which I played around in as a young boy. I can still picture my father building many of the chicken houses. It’s great to be back here in a wonderful country location and next to one of Northumberland’s visitor attractions, the peaceful surroundings is a great place to set new business plans into action.”
Jill Fozard, a partner in the company, said “We are really excited at the prospect of continuing and growing our business from here. From a tourism marketing point of view we plan to be a key part of the regional tourism product as we are now located in both Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.”
