Childline Ball's £36K success
This year’s annual fundraising ChildLine Ruby Ball has been hailed a success as figures from the ruby themed night show the event raised in excess of £36,000. The highlight of the night was the grand auction which overall raised £9,500. The prizes included a set of ruby jewellery donated by Ortak, which pulled a winning bid at £1,250, a meal for six people in your own home, supplied and cooked by award-winning chef and restaurateur Alan O’Kane which raised £1,600 and an NUFC corporate package for 10 including hospitality which raised £4,000.
Clare Framrose, ChildLine’s regional fundraiser for the North East, said “The ball was a fantastic evening. The feedback we have had so far has been very positive and it seems everybody had a great fun-packed night. I want to say a big thank you to everybody who made the night a success – especially our sponsors, SFM Legal Services – and to everybody who kindly donated money on the night. We are now really looking forward to gathering supporters to help us achieve even greater results for next year’s ball.”
The night also featured a balloon bonanza, Deeply Dippy chocolate fountain, caricatures by award-winning Mike Giblin, a silent auction and a prize draw. Guests were also serenaded with musical entertainment from the Adam Kent Quartet, The Jamie McCredie Big Band and cabaret from the Sage Academy of Performing Arts.
Funds raised from the event will go towards providing counselling services to children in the North East and Yorkshire. Anybody interested in supporting the ChildLine Ball next year is asked to contact Clare Framrose on 0191 212 7940.
