Marketing masterclass for 2012 games
The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games may still be five years away, but momentum for the world’s greatest sporting spectacle is gathering pace. An event this week is planning to alert companies to the enormous financial benefits to be gained by North East firms. The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is joining forces with One NorthEast for a masterclass on Thursday 29 March, offering marketing advice to ambitious companies looking to benefit from the London Games.
Delivering the London 2012 Games will call upon the skills of a huge range of businesses, from blue-chip companies to a variety of small and medium-sized enterprises. The North East’s expertise in a number of key sectors means it is ideally placed to benefit from these lucrative contracts.
Elaine Scott, Teesside Chairman of CIM, said: “The Marketing Masterclass is a fantastic chance for companies in the region to learn how to be as effective as possible in seizing these opportunities. “It may feel like 2012 is too far in the future to be of concern yet, but have that mindset and you won’t be one of the businesses who capitalise from the hundreds of opportunities the London 2012 Games bring.”
David Thorp, Head of Insights at CIM, will be alerting attendees to the restrictive brand regulations concerning the London 2012 Games. Claire Forbes, Director of Communications at the Advertising Standards Authority, will also be giving an insight into the ASA judgements for advertisements, direct marketing and sales promotions.
Elaine said: “The whole area of what marketing can and can’t say around the London 2012 Games is complex and this event will provide essential guidance to help firms understand how to successfully negotiate this legislative area.”
