Live Theatre invites local businesses get in on the act

Businesses are being given the chance to play their own part in supporting local talent at Newcastle’s Live Theatre. By backing the region’s performing arts scene, corporate partners can land themselves a leading role in the life of the theatre with free tickets, pre-show and post-show receptions and chances to meet the cast.

Two Newcastle-based companies have already secured themselves a stint in the spotlight by signing up for the scheme - Hunt Kidd Law Firm and NStar, an investment and enterprise development company. The Live Theatre is currently closed for a £5.3 million redevelopment and is due to reopen in autumn 2007. As the first members of the corporate partners scheme, representatives from NStar and Hunt Kidd have been allowed behind the scenes to see how contractors are transforming the historic building into a new performing arts hub for the North East.

Ken Hunt of Hunt Kidd Law Firm said: “Live Theatre is a real source of pride for people in the North East. It produces some amazing work from new and established writers and performers. As a local firm we want to see this region achieve its full potential in every respect and I believe our partnership with Live will be extremely rewarding.”

Dawn Dunn of NStar said: “This is a great way for NStar to reach out to the North East’s creative community, as well as helping us entertain our clients, provide benefits for our staff and support the crucial work of the Live Theatre.”

Jim Beirne, executive director at Live Theatre, said: “This scheme is all about opening up new opportunities for businesses to get involved in our work, and give their staff and clients access to some of the most exciting drama in the region.”
