Volunteers sought to jump out of plane

Children North East are offering brave volunteers the chance of a lifetime – a tandem parachute jump with the world famous Red Devils, the British Army’s Parachute Regiment Freefall Team. This is the first time The Red Devils have come to the North East for a charity skydive and the event will be held at Peterlee Parachute Centre on 25–27 September 2007.

A minimum sponsorship pledge of £390 is required to be part of the event, which will involve an introduction to the Red Devils Team followed by 30 minutes of ground training. Participants will be attached to a qualified Red Devils tandem instructor in readiness for the jump. They will exit the aircraft at an altitude of 13,000 ft and experience 45-seconds of freefall followed by a canopy ride to the ground.

Catrina Flynn, Fundraising/PR Manager at Children North East said “We are absolutely delighted that The Red Devils have chosen to come to this region to do one of their charity skydives and we are very pleased to be associated with it. I have met some of the lads and watched how they work and I can assure people that they will really have a memorable experience but at the same time they will be helping Children North East to support some of the region’s most vulnerable children and families when they raise sponsorship to take part in this event.”
