A 'pizza the action' for footy players

Sporting youngsters from Newcastle United’s ‘Football in the Community’ celebrated their new sponsor by tucking into slices of pizza after a hard day’s training session.

To mark the collaboration between Italian restaurant group Sabatinis and Prima Ristorantes and Newcastle United’s Football in the Community, Paul Bernardelli and Fabrizio Saba from the restaurants delivered boxes of fresh pizzas to the young players at Richard Coates Middle School in Ponteland, where they plan to open their next restaurant, Fratellis, in the summer.

Paul and Fabrizio are both avid Newcastle United fans. Paul said: “My brother in-law Fabrizio and I recognise the importance of Football in the Community, we are proud to sponsor such a valuable programme that really inspires young talented people and gives them a chance to explore their sporting skills.

“It’s a well known fact that footballers normally eat pasta before a game but we thought we’d give these young players a treat after a hard day’s session. “As Italy are the World Cup Champions hopefully we can develop the next world class players through the sponsorship of this hugely successful scheme and feeding them pizza for energy!”
