Passport helps Cyberlaw 'out of Africa'

A Sunderland firm specialising in providing training for companies involved in e-commerce has gained a lucrative new contract from the Southern hemisphere. Cyberlaw Services offers a complete overview of the legal issues involved in online transactions and provides comprehensive training packages covering all aspects of e-law.

The company was keen to develop its overseas work and signed up to UK Trade and Investment’s Passport to Export scheme two years ago in a bid to gain the support it needed to explore new markets. Now the company is celebrating a lucrative new contract to deliver a series of masterclasses to the Elf Petroleum Company in Nigeria.

Dr Rita Esen, Director at Cyberlaw Services, explained: “The daily processing of electronic information and records in organisations has brought about a new work environment. Employees now need the skills to manage corporate information assets. The main way of doing this is by acquiring a sound understanding of acceptable information management practices. “Online activities bring with it a need to understand the legal issues surrounding electronic transactions and we can provide a complete overview of those issues to organisations.”

Jeff Sanders, one of UK Trade & Investment’s International Trade Advisers, said: “Ever increasing numbers of people and organisations are using the internet to buy and sell goods and services and Cyberlaw Services has identified a growing market for training in e-law issues. “It is something of a niche market and through Passport we have been able to help the company explore the export opportunities, carry out market research and meet potential clients. And we’re delighted the company is now reaping the rewards.”
