Falcons invite all to benefit dinner

Famous names from the domestic and international rugby worlds are set to descend on the North East for one of the region’s biggest sporting nights of the year. A black-tie gala dinner will take place on Friday 20 April to mark the high point of Newcastle Falcons coach Ian Peel’s benefit year.

The most capped forward in rugby history – England and British Lions prop forward Jason Leonard – has been drafted in as star speaker for the event, which will take place at the Gosforth Park Marriot Hotel. Past and present Falcons heroes will be attending the event, and a whole host of other entertainment has been lined up, including a Veuve Clicquot champagne reception, a player Q&A and live entertainment from some top secret performers.

Paul Sloan QC, who is part of the Benefit organising committee, says: “Ian made a massive contribution to the Falcons during his playing days and is now building a career on the coaching side of the game. We’ve had fantastic support for all the benefit year events and tickets are selling well for the Gala Dinner, which promises to be a terrific evening – we hope as many people as possible will turn out to both support Ian and enjoy the company of some of the biggest names in the rugby world.”

Tables for ten people at the Gala Dinner are available for £850, and guests can also bid to have any of several top players sit with them on their tables.
