Diocese of Newcastle goes Digital on 125th Anniversary

North East software provider Datawright is working with the Anglican Church in the North East to install the latest technology as it celebrates its 125th birthday by embracing the new digital age. The Diocese of Newcastle – the local organising body of the Anglican Church – asked Datawright to work with its in-house IT team on a variety of special projects including the provision and installation of software as well as ongoing support for staff using the system.

John Rowley from the Diocese of Newcastle’s Board of Finance said: “What we specifically needed was some custom designed software to handle our areas of asset management and deeds of covenant. But because we also deal with a wide range of issues from property management to more basic day to day things like staffing, we needed a system that can handle complexities – but is still simple to use.”

Working with the Board of Finance based in Newcastle, Datawright designed and installed some bespoke software tailored to meet the Diocese’s requirements alongside its Kingfisher Accounts solution.

Bishop Paul Richardson of Newcastle said: “Communication and sharing of information is vital to our life, worship and mission. We are quite a large Diocese in terms of population and number of churches, and we cover a diverse range of communities – from the old industrial and mining areas to the now thriving arts scene that is Newcastle Gateshead. So you can see that it is no easy task to organise our work without an up to date software system.”

Norman Thompson, Datawright’s Technical Services Team Leader added, “It is rewarding to think that we are helping such a vital part of the local community.”
