Recipe for success for North East food & drink industry

The last in a series of specialist seminars promising to give companies operating in the North East food and drink sector the ingredients for business success will take place at Durham Business School tomorrow.

The event is free and will focus on skills, showcasing the variety and calibre of the region’s universities’ knowledge, training and development courses. The event will demonstrate to companies ways in which to maximise the potential of their staff through development, helping businesses to compete in an increasingly competitive industry.

The aim of the ‘Appetite for Success’ programme, which has been developed by knowledge transfer specialists Knowledge House, is to encourage industry to collaborate and innovate with sector experts from the region’s five universities. These experts can assist them in the development of new products, improve productivity and help the region’s food and drink industry to be more competitive and cost effective through smarter use of logistics information.

Mark Jackson, Knowledge House Business Development Director, said: “There is real scope for growth in this sector and by simply tapping into the knowledge, expertise and cutting edge know-how of our universities, the region’s food and drink sector can raise productivity as well as help to secure the long-term success of their businesses on a regional, national and international scale.”
