Berghaus to open up in MetroCentre
North East based outdoor clothing and equipment company Berghaus will open its first flagship store in September this year, in the Gateshead MetroCentre. Owned and operated directly by Berghaus, the store will stock products from across the company’s range of outdoor clothing, footwear, rucsacs and accessories. The announcement of the brand’s first dedicated store coincides with preparations for its entry into the lucrative Japanese market, also in September.
Richard Cotter, Berghaus brand president, said: “Berghaus is an ambitious company and we have made it clear that we aim to be one of the top five global outdoor brands. “In our North East England heartland, we will be able to present the brand and its products in exactly the way that we want. We will be able to communicate more effectively with our consumers and we will be able to showcase and trial new product innovations in a way that we have never been able to manage before.”
Designs for the outlet are being developed by retail expert Caulder Moore Design, which has completed work for the likes of M&S, Harvey Nichols, Ben Sherman and Harrods.
The Berghaus store is scheduled to open on Saturday 1 September and a programme of promotional activity is being planned to roll out across the region to mark the occasion.
