Unique company launched to protect region's businesses

The region’s first company offering businesses a three-pronged approach to resilience has been launched, providing a combination of IT, fire, and health and safety solutions that protect an organisation’s people, technology and physical environment from interruptions or incidents.

PCI Services, based at the high-tech e-volve Business Centre in Sunderland, has been established by Joe Olabode, a former director of Gateshead-based IT company ITPS, and Eddie Cairns, whose 20-year career in the fire service included 11 years as a fire officer, plus key offshore firefighter training and community safety roles.

The company’s aim is to help clients develop and implement a strategy that results in the most cost effective and resilient IT, fire, and health and safety infrastructure. Several leading business names are already on the client list, including motor specialists Jennings Ford, NHS organisation Northumberland Care Trust and international recruitment firm NRL.

Eddie Cairns said: “Most organisations recognise the need to comply with health and safety legislation but see it as red tape that has no real business value. We aim to change this perception – effective fire, health and safety policies and procedures promote a positive safety culture, leading to a more productive environment. Staff who feel valued and appreciated stay loyal and motivated, reducing staff turnover and helping to improve the bottom line.”

The company has also set up a number of strategic partnerships with organisations around the region, including technology experts ITPS, health and environment consultants Apix and digital design and branding firm Jump.
