Name change for medical centre
One of the best known medical centres in Newcastle has recently changed its name. After years of helping patients throughout the City, the University Medical Centre has changed its name to the Newcastle Medical Centre.
Senior Partner Dr Neil Lloyd Jones said: “For years, people have assumed that we are attached to the University and therefore only dealt with students. “In fact this is far from the case as a large percentage of our patients are from the wider community. Our Travel Clinic has provided advice on health issues for worldwide travel for many people across the region. We therefore felt that it was time to change our name in order to reflect this.”
As well as a change of name the Practice is hoping to relocate close by in the heart of the City Centre to a new purpose built Medical Centre.
Dr Jones said: “This is a really exciting time for us. All our decisions have been driven by our commitment to provide the best possible care and support for our patients. We have had a really positive response to our new name and we will be providing details of our plans for our move to a new building as soon as they are available.”
