International Business Month a hit with North East firms

International Business Month has proved a hit with North East firms as more than 500 delegates took part in the initiative in a bid to broaden their horizons. UK Trade & Investment joined forces with One NorthEast, the North East Chamber of Commerce and other partners across the region to host the free event, which ran throughout March.

David Coppock, UK Trade & Investment’s International Trade Director, said: “I’m delighted International Business Month proved to be such a success and that so many companies found the time to take part. “We also welcomed more than 130 delegates to our special reception, celebrating the region’s achievements in international trade and we will continue to work hard throughout the year to help companies target new markets around the globe.”

David Allison, One NorthEast Director of Business and Industry, said: “It is very pleasing to see so many regional firms take advantage of the export expertise available during the month-long series of events. “International trade is a big step for businesses to take and we have the professionals in place in the region to help firms make that leap, forearmed with the best advice and market knowledge.”

Events during the month covered a wide range of topics from general advice for new exporters taking their first steps into international trade, customs requirements and finance to the importance of market research and visiting the market to meet potential customers face-to-face.
