Call for businesess to enter equality awards
Equal opportunities organisation Equality North East has announced the launch of the 2007 North East Equality Awards, and is calling for businesses in the region to submit themselves for entry. The Awards recognise and reward those employers, training providers and individuals who strive to ensure that good equality and diversity practices are implemented in the work place thereby improving recruitment and retention for people from diverse groups.
The Awards categories are:
- Employers of Between 51 & 250 Staff - sponsor TBC
- Employers of Between 11 & 50 Staff - NORTHERN ECHO
- Employers of up to 10 Staff - NEEC
- Training Providers of up to 50 Staff - REGIONAL LSC
- Training Providers & Colleges of over 50 Staff - REGIONAL LSC
- Larger Organisations That Have Made an Outstanding Contribution in Promoting Equality and Diversity in the Community - ONE NORTH EAST
- The Trade Unions Equality for All Award - TUC
- Individuals Who Have Made a Difference - sponsor TBC
There will also be an award for Overall Best Practice which is sponsored by the North East Assembly.
Other sponsors include North East Fire and Rescue, The North Eastern Co-op, NEXUS, ConstructionSkills, CIPD Tees Valley, The FSB, Amicus, ‘Lindy Hop’, Inspirations (Darlington), and Calendar Print.
