Durham Business School 'banks' on new partnership

A leading business school is joining forces with one of the biggest names in corporate banking to offer its MBA students unique collaborative opportunities. Durham Business School’s new partnership with Bank of Scotland Corporate will involve the bank sponsoring business projects for the Business School’s full-time MBA students and recruiting some of its graduates.

Tom Riddell, Senior Leadership Development Consultant at Bank of Scotland Corporate, said: “We’re not interested in recruiting number-crunchers, we are looking for the leaders of the future and that is why we’re keen to develop a relationship with the Durham faculty and its students.”

Bank of Scotland Corporate plans to sponsor MBA projects, enabling students to gain experience working on an industry-based business project for the organisation, while learning about the bank. During their visit to Durham senior managers from Bank of Scotland Corporate interviewed students for business projects and selected those who will proceed to the next stage of interviewing in Edinburgh.

Tom Riddell said: “All of the students that I interviewed were excellent. I was particularly impressed by the fact that they spoke so highly about Durham Business School and their experiences on the full-time MBA programme.”

Professor Tony Antoniou, Dean of Durham Business School said: “We’re delighted to be working closely with such a leading institution as Bank of Scotland Corporate and look forward to collaborating on a number of exciting projects together. The feedback from our MBA students about the bank’s visit has been excellent and I’m sure this partnership will enrich both our organisations in the years to come.”
