Teesside businesses urged to support community growth

A charity originally founded in 1996 and set up by business leaders from around the Tees Valley has re-launched and is hoping to attract new members. The Tees Valley Professional Services Group (PSG) has over 120 members from a variety of sectors, who provide free advice to groups working within the local community. The ethos of the organisation is to support communities to help them to grow and develop with help from the professional services sector.

Members can choose when and how they become involved and membership offers a number of benefits including free publicity, business networking and the opportunity to bid for contracts to deliver specialist PSG services. The PSG helps voluntary and community organisations by providing support in a range of areas from planning a marketing strategy to determining the structural condition of a property.

Kath Dowson, PSG project manager, said: “Members bring much needed support and expert advice directly to the organisations making a difference in the community, of which they may not be able to otherwise access through lack of resources. In order to meet increased demand for our services we are always seeking new members to join PSG across all disciplines, however we are actively seeking architects, building surveyors, business planning and development consultants. “We have recently re-branded and re-launched Tees Valley Professional Services Group and established a new website which is attracting a lot of interest. We now have some of the most successful businesses across Teesside involved, working with groups such as Stockton Shopmobility, Middlesbrough Sea Cadets and Home Start Teesside.”
