Financing growth in Northumberland

Ambitious businesses in Northumberland are being invited to tap into a new financial service which aims to help them grow and develop. In an effort to boost business development around Morpeth, Hexham and Wansbeck, NStar Finance & Business is running an introductory course on finance and business at Longhirst Hall on 19 June. The one-day introductory learning course will provide businesses with the essential basics of finance and show them the range of support being offered; they can then assess the best route to growth.

NStar, an early stage finance and business support organisation, recently launched the Finance & Business programme to help companies across the North East achieve their growth potential and ambitions by making more effective use of the financial resources that are available around the region.

The Finance & Business programme provides a range of financial support services including training, coaching, mentoring and advice aimed at SMEs. A new website – www.nstarfinanceandbusiness.com – has been launched as a starting point for businesses to find out more about the scheme.

Caroline Hughes, newly appointed head of NStar Finance & Business, said: “Finance & business is a practical and robust response to the financial issues facing many SMEs. We have an exciting programme of activities that are relevant for any company, in any sector, wanting to grow and become more profitable. It will provide companies with the complete skills to access and use finance for business growth from the basics to the more complex equity investments. A variety of courses have been designed to suit both business owners with little experience of finance as well as the more experienced individuals with ambitious growth plans that require tailored financial support.”
