Cherie, where's my car?
Tony Blair came down to earth with a bump when there was no car or bodyguards to meet his train on Wednesday. The ex-PM and his wife Cherie were left in limbo for several minutes at Darlington station after his train from King’s Cross, London, arrived 40 minutes late. It was a far cry from the carefully arranged travel plans he has been used to for a decade, reports The Sun.
Mr Blair asked a nearby schoolboy: “Are you my bodyguard?” which suggests either that he had retained the sense of humour demonstrated in his final Prime Minister’s questions earlier in the day, or that the situation had confused him somewhat.
The couple were eventually driven with a police escort to their home in Sedgefield.
