Procurement advice on offer for SMEs

SMEs are being given the chance to be top of the trading game thanks to IT Works this week. The event, taking place today and tomorrow at The University of Sunderland, has a free seminar specifically for SMEs on trading with the public sector. North East Connects Partnership are hosting the seminar with speakers from the North East Purchasing Organisation (NEPO) and North East Local Government Improvement Partnership (NELGIP).

Andrew De’Ath, programme manager of North East Connects, said: “Local Authorities are a significant market for private enterprises in the North East, with a well established reputation for fair and professional procurement. Small and Medium Sized Enterprises need to understand how Local Authorities operate to be able to benefit from the wide range of contract opportunities. Increasingly Local Authorities have a need for innovative ICT solutions to help them deliver efficient, well co-ordinated and better integrated services to communities.”

Running alongside the two day event is the International IT in the Community Conference. Complimenting both the IT Works seminars and the Conference is the exhibition area, where visitors can again see new technologies including the xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. For full information on Seminars, Exhibition and Conference log on to www.itevent.org or call 0191 241 4523 and speak to Chris Laws or Jo Sloan.
