Artists/designer-makers
Required for Gallery TS1 Middlesbrough
Gallery TS1 Middlesbrough is a pioneering Creative Apprenticeship Scheme for young people not in education, employment or training (NEET). Modelled on a programme initially developed in Chicago, Middlesbrough Council’s Cultural Services have worked in partnership with Tees Valley Arts in order that the programme can expand its remarkable success in turning around young people’s lives.
Based in a commercial shop/gallery space with workshop facilities, Gallery TS1 now requires artists/designer-makers experienced in working with hard to reach groups of young people, and ideally with experience of delivering Arts Award training. Through working with the artists and supporting personnel, the young people will create high quality, sellable products, and sell them to the public.
Artists will be paid £2100 for a twelve day block of work between 16th August to 1st September; artists will be responsible for their own taxes and national insurance. All artists must have enhanced CRB clearance and public liability insurance (evidence to be provided to TVA).
Please send a brief CV and a letter of application plus example images specifying your artform and outlining your approach to working with such challenging young people to Rowena Sommerville at rowena.sommerville@teesvalleyarts.org.uk.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 4.30pm, Friday 20 July.
