Retail conference to be hosted on Tyneside
A nationwide retail property organisation has announced that its 2007 Conference & Showcase will take place at The Sage Gateshead from 5-7 November. The British Council of Shopping Centres’ (BCSC) trade event will focus on the theme of how the retail property industry impacts on people and their lives and the positive impact that the industry can have on communities.
Peter Drummond, Conference Chair for BCSC 2007, said: “The exciting location of NewcastleGateshead – one of the great shopping and entertainment capitals of Europe – promises to be a fantastic backdrop for our retail property industry Conference & Showcase.”

Conference organisers expect attendance delegate numbers of around 3,000 participants anticipated. Previous Conferences have been held in Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Belfast. Keynote speakers at the 2007 Conference are due to include: Lord Coe, Sir Bob Geldof and the global explorer Pen Hadow; Julia Cleverdon, Chief Executive of Business in the Community; and Wayne Hemingway, designer and co-founder of fashion label Red or Dead.
