The dangers of saving the planet

In a bizarre recycling incident, a woman had to be rescued by firefighters after she fell headfirst into a recycling bin at an Asda store in Kent.

In an unintentional effort to prove that helping the environment comes at the cost of your well-being, the 35 year old had initially gone to drop off some clothes but seriously misjudged the size of her carbon footprint when she became trapped in the slot trying to get them back.

Although the store was closed, the alarm was raised by another recycler who spotted a pair of feet sticking out of the bin of unwanted clothes and the unnamed woman had to be rescued by a fire crew with hydraulic cutting equipment, the Daily Record reports.

Fireman Mark Innes said: “We were originally told it was a child stuck in the bin but when we got there, we discovered it was a fully grown woman. Apparently she had put something in the bin that she hadn’t meant to and when she went to retrieve it, she fell in.

“It was a very strange job.”
