£400,000 investment in high-end optometrist
Optometrist Vik Kumar has set his sights on establishing an exclusive approach to eyecare by investing £400,000 into setting up his own eye clinic. The 33-year-old has recently opened Concept Eye Clinic in Gosforth, and created an ‘eye boutique’ targeted at a style conscious clientele.
A former employee of Tynedale Opticians, Vik bought the Gosforth clinic, relocated, rebranded and refurbished it with the support of designer Nicola Gartland from Xsite architecture.
Mr Kumar said: “The new clinic means we can continue to attract our current clientele as well as targeting style-savvy people who are conscious about their image. “The clinic’s innovative platform and our unique understanding of the industry’s needs should help us to become a leading regional eye clinic.”
Rachel Holden, Concept’s fashion and marketing coordinator said: “Concept Eye Clinic is investing in top of the range brands from across the globe. We also like to source international brands from quality designers that are new to the market even though we still stock standard designs from ranges like Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana.”
Concept also plans to focus on the medical and healthcare sides of the optometric and ophthalmologic industry. A new surgery will open later this year offering patients corrective eye surgery.
Currently, test rooms provide digital eye photography to improve diagnosis and early detection of any eye problems. This includes 360 degree images of the anterior eye and retina that clients can keep.
