Jackpot for North East jobseekers
A Sunderland based bingo operator is bucking the employment trend by creating more than 60 jobs.
In the last six months, a £5m national TV advertising campaign has seen tombola.co.uk increase its popularity across the UK, and it is now recruiting for a range of marketing, technical, and operations roles.
tombola.co.uk initially operated the online bingo operations for a major national newspaper, but made the decision to go it alone in August 2008.
Dawn Clayton, marketing manager, said: “Sadly there are few companies who can report positive performance recently, but in the last three months we have added 30 new members to the team and that pattern will be repeated by adding 30 more in the coming months.
“We are thrilled with the way online bingo players across the UK have responded to our fun approach to online entertainment and now we’re in a great position to share our success with job-seekers in this region.”
The new additions will bring the number of staff employed by tombola.co.uk, based at Wylam Wharf in Sunderland, to more than 130.
Dawn said: “One of our key strengths over our competition is the popularity of our chat moderators. All of our paid for games we have available on the site have the opportunity for players to ‘chat’ to each other, so obviously we need people to monitor the chat to make sure it remains friendly.
“So many of the players pass on comments on how welcoming and friendly our chat moderators are. It’s one of the key factors in our rise in player numbers. It’s a fantastic job as it can be done from home or anywhere where someone can log into a computer. It seems our players really feed off that unique North East brand of friendliness our chat moderators bring.”
