Coast & Country named on top employer list

A Tees Valley Housing Association has been recognised as one of the best not-for-profit organisations in the UK.

Coast & Country was included in the list compiled by the Sunday Times, after 73% of staff reported that the housing association was a low stress place to work. The majority of workers also indicated that they were happy with their pay and benefits, and the recognition they receive when providing services to residents.

The not-for-profit regeneration and housing firm is one of the largest in the North East, and manages more than 10,000 homes across the Redcar and Cleveland area and employs over 500 staff.

To compile the results, the Sunday Times surveyed nearly 50,000 employees from more than 250 organisations. The top 100, out of which Coast and Country came 73rd, highlights the best not-for-profit businesses to work for in the UK.

Iain Sim, chief executive of Coast & Country attributed the inclusion of the company to the excellent quality of its staff.

He commented: “Coast & Country has always been a ‘people’ company with our employees hugely passionate about the work they do and the customers they serve. Every single person in the company plays a vital role in the running of the business.

“Our staff are our greatest asset and we are committed to supporting them by nurturing their career development, treating them with respect, providing a healthy work-life balance and driving staff empowerment initiatives.

“A substantial element of the ranking is based on confidential employee feedback about what they think of the company.

“The high standard of human resources policies in place to support our staff is demonstrated by the substantial percentage of employees reporting low stress and being happy with their pay and benefits.”
