TTE form MoD training partnership

TTE Technical Training Group have formed a new partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), in a move which will allow them to continue to support ex-military personnel entering industry.

The Middlesbrough-based training provider will now deliver accredited training and qualifications to support the retraining and upskilling of former forces personnel under the MoD’s Enhanced Credits Learning Scheme (ELC).

The scheme will support lifelong learning amongst Armed Forces personnel in the oil and gas, process and manufacturing sectors, and will also provide financial support for a maximum of three years.

Funding will be available for courses resulting in a nationally recognised qualification at level three of above on the National Qualifications Framework, level six or above in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework or an approved international qualification of pursued overseas.

Applicants must have completed four years of full time service and undertake learning with an approved education provider to be eligible.

Steve Grant, Managing Director of the TTE Technical Training Group, said: “The Enhanced Learning Scheme is an excellent opportunity to support the transition of armed forces personnel into potentially long-term careers. One of the challenges facing a number of industry sectors is the percentage of the workforce that is coming up to retirement.

“Employers, with the support of organisations like TTE, are can address part of the issue through initiatives like the Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme and our recently introduced adult apprenticeship.”

Securing this accreditation is the latest commitment from TTE to supporting industry career aspirations of forces personnel. The organisation is currently delivering a 21-month adult apprenticeship for nine trainees to enter the process industry.

Supported by SABIC UK Petrochemicals, Lotte Chemical UK Ltd, ConocoPhillips and Lucite International, the apprentices are working towards the Process 0610 qualification and an NVQ Level 3 qualification, at TTE’s specialist training centre at South Bank, Middlesbrough and their sponsoring company.

He added: “The standard of the trainees taken on the process apprenticeship is very impressive, which is a positive reflection of the benefits of working with people previously trained in the Armed Forces.”
