Sunderland University open London campus

The University of Sunderland is opening a new campus in London as part of a strategic move to grow its international business presence.

The University of Sunderland London Campus will be located on Canary Wharf, and follows a long-standing and successful relationship with private educators EThames.

Sunderland University will now assume full responsibility for the site, and will deliver a number of business related programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

It is hoped that the move will give the North East institution a stronger foothold in London, whilst also developing its international reputation.

Professor Peter Fidler, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sunderland said: “Our reputation in London is already strong, particularly with international students.

“However, the new University of Sunderland London Campus will raise our profile significantly and open up a range of new opportunities.

“Having a physical presence in the capital, especially in such an important area, will not only have a significant impact on our business, but will also raise the profile of Sunderland as a city, as well as the wider region.”

The University has witnessed several years of growth in international markets, and has been recognised as a top five provider of higher education in countries abroad.

It currently provides academic programmes in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore and was the first UK institution to receive a license to operate in Vietnam.

Sunderland is now looking to grow international business in new markets in Central Asia and developing parts of Africa.
