Gateshead College partner with NECC

Gateshead College have signed a three-year contract with the North East Chamber of Commerce as the main sponsor of the Tyne and Wear annual dinner.

Consolidating links within the private sector, the college have partnered with NECC until 2014 after sponsoring the event alongside other partners for the last two years.

Richard Thorold, principal at Gateshead College, said: “We’re delighted to support the NECC’s annual dinner. We are committed to playing a pivotal part in securing the long term success of the North East and its most vibrant and valuable asset – its people.

“This exciting partnership with the NECC is a reflection of the strength of that commitment and our place at the heart of the region’s business and economic community.”

Gateshead College hope to capitalize on the relationship to connect the education sector with the worlds of business and training.

To date the college has links with businesses through manufacturing, engineering, technology, energy and construction courses.

NECC Chief Executive, James Ramsbotham, said: “The college and NECC are in agreement that businesses and the education sector must work closely together if we are to realize the region’s undoubted economic potential.

“By backing such a prestigious event, Gateshead College has ensured that its profile will be maximised through the dinners and hopefully more mutually successful relationships with globally-recognised figures such as Dame Kelly Holmes will be created.”
