Bdaily at London Fashion Week: Renaissance Life
Bdaily visited London Fashion Week to find out how emerging designers juggle creativity with a business agenda. We spoke to designers exhibiting their new collections at Somerset House, to find out how they brought their line to market. Bdaily chatted to jewelry designer Linnéa Götstav about her brand, Renaissance Life.
What is it like to show at London Fashion Week, and how do you present your line?
“When I brought out my first line, there was a huge marketing project behind it; a massive party and lots of press and so on. Now that I am established I don’t need the big launch. It’s always great to show in London because, although I am from Sweden, Renaissance Life is based in the capital here.”
Where do you see your line and who already stocks the collection?
“We are already in John Lewis, Harrods and Fortnum & Mason. These are the types of stores my collection fits in with because it is a luxury brand. The inspiration for the jewelry line all comes from my grandmother Maj, who said every piece has an energy and a heritage.”
Do you find the economic climate to be a worry?
“Despite the recession we’ve done really well since launching in 2009. Of course we’ve been affected, and we would have done better if the recession was not happening, but everyone takes that hit, and I’m happy with how the business has performed.”
Linnéa Götstav is the designer and managing director of Renaissance Life, which is stocked in stores in London, Hong Kong, Dubai and Copenhagen, amongst others across the world.
